Who Should Attend?
The class will be of special interest to expectant mothers and their partners. The partner can be someone who will be there during the last months of pregnancy and/or present at the birth
What Will Be Covered?
The class will teach the expectant mothers' partner how to be a helpful part of the birthing process. Each partner will learn how to give a helpful and relaxing massage to the expectant mother. Each couple will leave with a better sense of how to deal with the stresses (physically and mentally) of the last weeks of pregnancy and labor.
The course will cover the fundamentals of:
- Swedish Massage
- Acupressure
- Reflexology techniques
- Contraindications
- Proper body positioning
Christian Brewer is a graduate of Virginia Learning Institute in Falls Church, Virginia, and has been practicing massage therapy for four years. She also studied Pre-natal massage under Elaine Stillerman, creator of Mothermassage. She is certified in Pre-natal massage and teaches partner Pre-natal massage classes. Christian specializes in Swedish, deep tissue, and Thai Yoga massage. Using her knowledge of Thai Yoga massage, Christian incorporates stretching into each massage session to suit the client's needs. She has a sixth sense in rooting out the sources of pain and tension in a client's body and bringing about the relaxation and relief they seek.
